Developing a mission, vision and strategic plan are foundational pieces. Setting goals and all other work done in the organization should track back to the mission, vision, and strategic plan.
Mission and Vision statements can be highly motivating when they are expressed clearly, succinctly, and with intent. They should explain the "why" and "what" of the organization. When communicated clearly and effectively to everyone in the organization and community, they also express your organization's purpose to customers, stakeholders, funders, partners, and the media, on whom they can have the same effect.
An organizational review can be done to assess how and if the work being done is in alignment with the mission, vision, and strategic plan. When completed, it can be used to inform next steps in meeting organizational needs.
